Wall Street Gets on Board: Climate Change and Investment
Part of the UNEP FI Open Debate Series
Workshop 1.4.2 14.15-15.30
Climate Change is deemed one of the greatest environmental challenges the planet has ever faced, with serious economic, social and political implications. Investors face a complex task of mitigating potential impacts on investment value while equally ensuring their investments are not fuelling the problem. This session promises to be an exciting debate, key members of the investment chain, two sell side research firms, an asset manager and a pension fund will discuss views on:
- How climate change is altering the investment landscape: Is Wall Street responding? What steps are the major sell side research houses and asset managers taking? What sectors and investments are most at risk?
- Are the key climate change concerns of the world's largest investors, pension funds, being catered to: What are these concerns? Are pension fund trustees satisfied Wall Street is adequately responding? Can trustees both protect value and minimise their contributions to the problem?
- What does the future look like: What will the next generation of products and research entail? What steps will the investment community need to take?
