Green Hedge Funds: A Sound Alternative?
Workshop 2.2.4 10.40-12.10
Techniques for integrating sustainability issues in portfolio investment decisions have been evolving since the first Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) funds in the 1970s, but until recently these have mostly only been applied to equity investment. This session will focus on the rise of new sustainability themed investment funds, and innovative approaches to integrate environment, social and governance (ESG) issues in asset classes such as fixed income, venture capital, hedge funds and other alternatives. In particular the panel discussion will shed light on:
- How growth in sustainability themed investment funds and alternative investments has evolved over the past several years. Which products are experiencing most growth and why?
- Whether these funds are financially sustainable, around for the long term, or merely trends brought on by recent awareness of climate change its potentially acute impacts on economy?
- How these funds contribute to sustainable development? Is there a real contribution and what are some of the examples of concrete positive impacts these funds have brought?
