UNEP FI 2007 Global Roundtable
The Real State of Real Estate
Part of the UNEP FI Open Debate Series
Workshop 2.3.2 13.25-14.40
This session will focus on "Collapsing the Circle of Blame" between the different actors in the property sector. Responsibility for environmental and social performance of real estate tends to be pushed from pillar to post - to the building's manager, the technology provided or blamed on the tenant's use. But what strategies can an investor implement across their property portfolio? What questions should the asset manager be asking? How does the property manager fit in? What is best practice amongst property developers? What is the importance of the tenant's role in increasing sustainability in property finance? These questions will stimulate a panel discussion between global property investment and real estate specialists.
Speakers will discuss what encourages them to take sustainability into account, or what prevents them from doing so.
Highlight: Snap shot on the investor - best practice in environmentally and socially responsible strategies for property investment and the latest on your property portfolio's carbon footprint.
