Speaker Biographies
Kunio Ishihara, Member of the Board, President of The Tokio Marine and Fire Insurance Co., Ltd.
Kunio Ishihara graduated from Tokyo University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Law, and joined Tokio Marine the same year. After gaining experience as an underwriter of Liability Insurance in the Non-Marine Underwriting Department, he was assigned to the Production Department. Following that, turned to the IT Department, and became the Information Systems Development Department General Manager and then Information Systems Management Department General Manager. Subsequently, performed role of Director and General Manager of Hokkaido Regional Headquarters, and then was made Managing Director and Senior Managing Director, before assuming the role of President of the Board of Directors as of 2001, presently held today.
In April 2002, he was appointed President of Millea Holdings, Inc. He served as Chairman of the Marine and Fire Insurance Association of Japan, Inc. for the year beginning Jun. 2002.

Mr. Dirk Reinhard, Environmental Consultant, Geo Risks Research Dept., Munich Re Group
Dirk Reinhard works in the environmental management group of Munich Re. His responsibilities include the implementation of sustainability criteria in Munich Re's asset management as well as new business opportunities in the course of the Kyoto protocol. In addition, he coordinates the communication with SRI-Funds and rating agencies in cooperation with Munich Re's investor relations department.
He is a member of the steering committee and the treasurer of the UNEP Insurance Industry Initiative.
Prior to joining Munich Re in 2001, Dirk Reinhard was the chief environmental analyst at oekom research AG, a Munich based sustainability rating agency.
Dirk Reinhard is a graduate of the Technical University of Darmstadt and holds a degree of industrial engineering.

Mr. Mark Kenber, Senior Policy Officer, International Climate Change Programme, WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature)
Mark Kenber is an economist currently working as Senior Policy Officer for the WWF International Climate Change Programme, responsible for economic and financial sector issues, GHG emissions trading and the development of an environmental labelling scheme for GHG offset projects.
Prior to this, he was Planning Director at Fundación Natura in Ecuador and advisor on climate change to the Ecuadorian government. During this time, he also lectured in environmental economics at the Catholic University in Quito. He has worked widely on economic aspects of environmental management, particularly trade, pollution and financing mechanisms and has published on a number of these issues.
Mark holds a Bachelor's degree in economics and a Masters in Development Studies from the University of Sussex, where he is now also an occasional lecturer.

Mr. Thomas Streiff, Head, Swiss Re Group Sustainability Management
Thomas Streiff heads Swiss Re's Group Sustainability Management. His responsibilities include the representation of Swiss Re's sustainability commitment, training and technical support of internal and external clients in environmental and societal-ethical issues. Additionally, he handles the coordination of internal and external communication of sustainability issues and the coaching of Swiss Re in the implementation and maintenance of a group wide sustainability management.
Prior to joining Swiss Re in 1997, Mr. Streiff was for two years the technical advisor and program director for a natural resource management project in India for the Swiss Government. Earlier, he worked as risk manager with Swiss Re, where his responsibilities included the development of rating systems and related databases for the use of casualty risk assessment of different industries.
From 1990 -1993 he had an assignment as project advisor of a large development program in Tanzania. He was until recently visiting lecturer at Swiss Federal Institute for Technology (ETH) in Zurich at the Postgraduate Course for Developing Countries.
Mr. Streiff is a 1985 graduate of the ETH with a degree in agricultural engineering. From 1986 - 1990 he was research and training assistant at the Institute of Food Technology (ETH) where he obtained in 1990 a Ph.D. degree in technical science. During this time he was also teacher at a high school and published several scientific articles on food conservation technologies.

Mr. Ken Yabe, Manager, Mitsui & Co., Ltd.; Member, CO2e Global Brokerage Team
Ken Yabe joined Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in 1993 and has ten years experience working at Mitsui's Iron & Steel Raw Materials Unit which covers iron ore, coal, and other raw materials.
He is now based in the Business Promotion Department and works as a member of the global brokerage team of CO2e.com.
