The Future of Climate Policy: The Financial Sector Perspective (UNFCCC COP 11)

5 December, 2005 | Montréal, Canada

The UNEP FI Climate Change Working Group (CCWG) held a side event at the UNFCCC Eleventh Conference of Parties (COP 11), and first Meeting of the Parties (MOP 1) in Montréal, Canada.

The side event marked the official launch of the CCWG's latest publication, The Future of Climate Policy: The Financial Sector Perspective (PDF: 1.4 MB).

The event addressed the importance of future policies, and the need for certainty about the post-Kyoto framework in order to incite the urgently needed mid- to long-term investments in a low-carbon economy. The event also made recommendations on how international climate policy should develop up to 2012 and beyond.

The event included presentations from the following participants, and a panel discussion:

  • James Cameron, Founding Partner, Climate Change Capital and Chairman, Carbon Disclosure Project
  • Perspectives on Future Climate Policy (PDF: 1.1 MB)
Mark Kenber, Policy Director, The Climate Group
  • The Future of Climate Policy: The Financial Sector Perspective (PDF: 547 KB)
Dr. Sascha Lafeld, 3C Climate Change Consulting
  • Helen Sahi, Senior Vice-President, Bank of America
  • Dr. Armin Sandhoevel, Head Carbon Risk/Reputational Risk, Dresdner Bank, Chair Climate Change Working Group, UNEP FI
