Tessa Tennant Executive Chair - The ICE Organisation
Tessa Tennant is Executive Chair of The ICE Organisation, a personal carbon management and loyalty programme. Tessa co-founded the UK's first equity investment fund for sustainable development in 1988 and worked in sustainable investment management in London for the following 12 years. She was Chair and co-founder of the UK Social Investment Forum and of the Carbon Disclosure Project. In 2001 she co-founded and was first Chair of ASrIA, The Association for Sustainable and Responsible Investment in Asia and remains on the Board. She is a Board member of the Calvert Social Funds, Washington DC. She is an Ambassador for WWF-UK. In 2003 she received the Sustainability Leadership Award by SAM/SPG of Switzerland and in 2004 was joint winner of the City of Goteborg International Environmental Leadership Prize.

Sarah Forrest Executive Director, Goldman Sachs Global Investment Research
Sarah Forrest leads the GS SUSTAIN Research team at Goldman Sachs after starting the initiative in January 2005. She joined the firm in 2003 to work with Anthony Ling in the Energy Equity Research team. GS SUSTAIN brings together our analysis of the sustainability of corporate performance. It includes our proprietary framework for analyzing competitive advantage in mature industries and the identification of winners in emerging industries -- such as alternative energy (wind, solar, biofuels, geothermal); environmental technology (water, waste, recycling); and biotechnology (oncology, HIV/AIDS, diabetes) -- as they evolve in response to a rapidly changing, globalizing world. Sarah graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2004 with a PhD in Chemical Engineering, and received a combined Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and Economics degree in 1998 from The University of Queensland, Australia.

Colin Melvin Chief Executive, Hermes Equity Ownership Services Ltd
As CEO of Hermes Equity Ownership Services Ltd, Colin Melvin provides advice and assistance to pension funds and other institutional investors in the areas of responsible investment, corporate governance, voting and engagement on assets managed by third party fund managers. He is also responsible, as Director of Corporate Governance for Hermes Pensions Management Ltd, for the direction, development and management of corporate governance and responsible investment in relation to Hermes’ equity shareholdings, directing the largest corporate governance resource of any fund management company.
Mr Melvin is currently an active member of various industry steering groups and committees including those of the United Nations Project on Principles for Responsible Investment, the Work Foundation Panel of Inquiry into Work and Enterprise, the Global Institutional Governance Network and the Institute of Directors Professional Accreditation Committee.
He also chaired the organizing committee for the International Corporate Governance Network’s 2005 annual conference, which attracted over 500 attendees from 37 countries. He is currently a member of the ICGN’s standing committees on executive remuneration, cross-border voting and shareholder responsibilities. He has also founded or led various investor groups including the Performance Pay Group and SRI Forum in the UK and co-drafted guidelines for corporate disclosure on social, environmental and ethical matters, which have been issued by the Association of British Insurers. In November 2001, he set up the Responsible Investors Network, to facilitate the development of corporate engagement in this area.
Previously, Mr. Melvin was Corporate Governance Manager and Secretary to the Ethics Committee at Standard Life Investments and Head of Corporate Governance at Baillie Gifford. He is also a former member of the Advisory Board to Aberforth Limited Partnership I, a fund engaged in relational and active-value investing.
Mr Melvin joined Hermes in 2002 and became CEO of Hermes Equity Ownership Services in 2005. He is an associate member of the Chartered Financial Analysts Institute and the UK Society of Investment Professionals. He holds an MA from Aberdeen University and an MPhil from Cambridge University, both in History, and a Diploma in Investment Analysis from Stirling University. He is an Associate of the Centre for Corporate Governance Research of the University of Birmingham.
Mr Melvin is married with three children. His non-work interests include cinema and photography.

Martin Hancock Chief Operating Officer, Westpac
Martin is the Chief Operating Officer for Westpac in London, and represents the bank on Corporate Responsibility in the Northern Hemisphere. He has been a member of the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Steering Committee since February 2004, and was elected to the Chair in January 2005.
Martin was on the Working Group for the GRI Sector Specific Supplement on Social Performance Indicators for the Finance Sector, and co-chaired the UNEP FI/GRI Environmental Indicators Project. He has been a member of the Equator Principles Working Group, taking specific responsibility for Reporting and Transparency, and also worked on the Global Compact ‘Who Cares Wins’ initiative.
Martin has a first degree in Economics and a M.Sc. in Management and Business Studies. He has also gained distinctions in (1) a Postgraduate Diploma in Ecology, Conservation and Environmental Management from the Durrell Institute, University of Kent, and (2) a M.Sc. in Environmental Management from Wye College, University of London, where he specialised in International Environmental Law, Environmental Impact Assessment and NGO Management

Rachel Kyte
Director of the Environment and Social Development Department - International Finance Corporation
Rachel Kyte, a British national, became Director of the Environment and Social Development Department at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in January 2004. Since joining the department she has stewarded the development and adoption of the new sustainability policy, performance standards and disclosure policy for IFC and overseen an overhaul in internal systems and procedures to support the strategic importance IFC places on environmental and social sustainability. IFC’s new Performance Standards serve as a basis for Equator Principles which have now been adopted by 54 financial institutions, and for IFC’s approach to the opportunities sustainable finance offers growth and development.
Prior to this appointment, she was Principal Specialist in the Office of the Compliance Advisor/Ombudsman of IFC/MIGA. She managed the Ombudsman function, investigating and offering conflict resolution to complaints filed in relation to the private sector activities of IFC and MIGA. Before joining IFC, Ms. Kyte was Senior Policy Advisor, Senior Advisor on Gender and Representative to the European Union for IUCN, The World Conservation Union. A graduate of the University of London and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, she has worked extensively on issues of policy in the interconnected spheres of environment, development, gender and health. Rachel has worked with and for private sector concerns on private/public partnerships in the fields of health and environment and has served as an advisor, and on the boards of a number of NGOs, private philanthropic foundations, the United Nations, and government.

Dr Noel Purcell Group General Manager, Stakeholder Communications - Westpac Banking Corporation
Noel Purcell has served as a senior executive of Westpac since February 1986 in a variety of roles. He is currently the Group General Manager, Stakeholder Communications, with responsibility for all media, government, investor and community relations, as well as the Westpac Group corporate sustainability and internal communication. Noel has led Westpac's corporate responsibility initiatives, which have resulted in Westpac being widely recognised as a global leader in sustainable business practices.
Prior to joining Westpac, Noel served at senior executive levels within the Federal Public Service including Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, The Office of National Assessments, and The Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Noel gained his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University and the Strategic Marketing Program at Stanford University.
Noel recently joined the Global Governing Board of the CAUX Round Table and is Chairman of the Deployment Committee of the CAUX Round Table.

Mr. Renjie Li, born in March 1955, holds a bachelor degree and is a senior economist. He has worked successively as Director of Planning Division of the People’s Bank of China Fujian Branch, Executive Director and Deputy General Manager of Hong Kong Jiang Nan Finance Ltd., Chairman of Great Wall Securities Co., Ltd., Preparatory Team Leader and President of Industrial Bank Shenzhen Branch, Vice President of Industrial Bank; and currently as President of Industrial Bank.

Steve Gibbs
Chief Executive Officer, Australian Reward Investment Alliance (ARIA)
Steve has been CEO of ARIA since 2000. ARIA is responsible for managing all aspects (investment, administration, benefit payments, member communications, etc) of the superannuation (pension) arrangements for Australian Government employees. ARIA has $US14 billion under management and over 450,000 participants and pensioners.
Prior to joining ARIA, Steve was for 3 years CEO of the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees and prior to this spent 24 years working in the industrial relations arena.
Steve has a Bachelor of Economics and an MBA. He holds a number of positions within the pension industry in Australia and has held various Board (non-executive director) positions in both the public and private sector.
Steve and his wife, Kate have two boys: Charles (Chaz) 17 and Darcy 14. Steve also has three other children and two one year old grandsons.

Xavier Desmadryl
Global Head of SRI Research, HSBC Investments (France)
Co-Chair, Asset Management Working Group, United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI)
Xavier was appointed Global Head of SRI Research on 1st March 2007, after 4 years as an SRI Financial Analyst. He joined the HSBC Group in April 1999 and performed several marketing functions for 4 years – firstly, as a Product Manager, then as Head of Marketing Analysis and, finally, as Head of Investment Marketing. Prior to HSBC, he was affiliated for 4 years with the asset management firm, Ecureuil Gestion (part of the CDC Group), as Sales and Marketing Support Manager. From 1993 to 1995, he was a Product Manager at Credit Agricole, and from 1991 to 1993, a Junior Consultant at Income International, focusing on financial marketing and strategic issues. He started his career at Bank Paribas where he spent 2 years as a Marketing Analyst.
Xavier graduated in 1988 from the French business school, ESLSCA, specialising in finance. He has been a Certified European Financial Analyst (European Federation of Financial Analysts) since 2005. He is also a Co-Chair of the Asset Management Working Group (AMWG) of the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), a member of the UNEP FI Global Steering Committee, and a member of the MEDEF Sustainable Development Committee, the main representative body of French employers.

Chanchai Supasagee
Director - Corporate Governance and Compliance, Government Pension Fund, Thailand
Mr. Chanchai Supasagee has worked in financial industry for twenty years. His experience includes his works at The Industrial Finance Corporation of Thailand, Thai Rating & Information Services ( a credit rating agency, now called TRIS Ratings), and Government Pension Fund. He is now in charge of corporate governance at the fund.
During the Thai financial crisis, he was seconded to the Financial Restructuring Authority for two years.
Mr. Chanchai Supasagee also sits on several committees regarding good practices in financial market. He holds a Bachelor degree in Accounting from Chulalongkorn University and an MBA, on the Fulbright program, from University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee.

Michael Ullmer Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer, National Australia Bank
Michael Ullmer is the Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer of the National Australia Bank Limited, a diversified financial services business with a market capitalisation of around A$60bn. The Group comprises 8 million retail and business banking customers and 2.3 million wealth management customers, primarily in Australia, the United Kingdom and New Zealand, together with a global capital markets and institutional banking business.
As Deputy Group CEO, Michael is responsible for supporting the development and execution of the Group’s corporate strategy and actions. He is a member of the Group’s Principal Board, and also a Director of several Group subsidiaries including Bank of New Zealand Limited.
From 2004 to 2007, Michael was the Group’s Finance Director, with overall responsibility for the Group’s Finance, Risk and Treasury management functions. Michael was responsible for leading a significant reorganization of those functions, establishing an efficient capital structure and developing an economic capital framework to evaluate business performance, strengthening the Group’s balance sheet and credit rating, overseeing the implementation of IFRS, achieving SOX - 404 compliance, and driving the Group’s application for advanced accreditation under the Basel II accord.
Michael’s career began with KPMG, spending five years in London and two years in the USA, before immigrating to Australia. He was Chairman of KPMG’s Asia-Pacific banking practice, before joining Coopers and Lybrand in 1992 where he held similar roles. As a partner specialising in financial services, Michael has been responsible for the audit of two of Australia’s major trading banks, strategic and advisory roles, including the restructure, recapitalisation and sale of major financial institutions, and major receiverships.
In 1997 he joined CBA, initially as Group Chief Financial Officer and then as Executive General Manager responsible for institutional and business banking, a business with a bottom line in excess of A$1bn.
Michael is a Director of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the European Australian Business Council. Previous community roles have included being a Director of the Sydney Symphony, Deputy Chairman of Kambala Girls School in Sydney and Treasurer of Lauriston Girls School in Melbourne. He has also sat on a number of professional and legislative bodies, including holding the position of Deputy Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council.
Michael has an honours degree in mathematics, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia.

Li Junfeng Research Professor and Director of Academy Committee - Energy Research Institute
Responsible for leading programs, primarily comprised of renewable energy policy and project preparation work for international, bilateral, and Government of China (GOC) clients. His experience includes policy analysis and formulation, preparation of World Bank/GEF Project, Renewable Energy Sector Studies, Analysis of Financial Incentives for Supporting Renewable Energy Development, Energy Efficiency Policy and Energy Price Reform Analysis.
