The City of Cape Town will partner with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and a range of organizations for an action-packed Green Week.

City of Cape Town The City of Cape Town is the municipal structure responsible for the delivery of services throughout Cape Town CBD and surrounding suburbs.

Carbon Disclosure Project in partnership with the National Business Initiative
Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) - since its formation in 2000, CDP has become the gold standard for carbon disclosure methodology and process, providing primary climate change data to the global market place.
National Business Initiative – partner to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, is a voluntary group of leading national and multi-national companies, working together towards sustainable growth and development in South Africa through partnerships, practical programmes and policy engagement.
Green Building Council of South Africa An independent, non-profit organization spearheaded by leaders from all sectors of the commercial property industry. It aims to lead the transformation of the South African property industry to ensure buildings are designed, built and operated in an environmentally sustainable way.
UNEP Green Economy Initiative (GEI) In October 2008, UNEP and leading economists launched the Green Economy Initiative (GEI) which works to bring about tomorrow’s economy today, by mobilizing and refocusing the global economy towards investments in clean technologies and ‘natural’ infrastructure.

Green Week Highlights
- UNEP FI’s Global Roundtable on 22-23 October. In Africa for the first time. Five hundred financial executives will gather to explore the theme of 'Financing change, Changing finance.' UNEP FI will also hold a series of training events across Cape Town during the week.
- 20 - 21 October - Pan African CEO Business Meeting hosted by Africa Investor and UNEP FI to debate green business issues and fine-tune an African business message for the UN Copenhagen Climate Change Conference.
- Workshop - 21 October, 1.30-4pm - Organised by Big Room Inc and facilitated by Incite Sustainability, this workshop will explore the possibility of using the anticipated ".eco" top-level domain to drive improved sustainability performance and support initiatives working towards a sustainable future globally. The workshop is free to attend, and will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
- 21 October - The CDP, in partnership with the National Business Initiative will release the 2009 CDP report revealing information from South Africa’s largest companies, on the JSE 100, on their greenhouse gas emissions and climate change strategies. Event information

- 21-23 October - Annual Convention and Exhibition - The Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA). This will cover the very latest ground on the green revolution taking place in property, city design and responsible real estate investment. The GBCSA will also launch its pilot Green Star SA Rating Tool for Retail Centres.

- 22 October - UNEP FI's Global Roundtable Conference Dinner will be followed by the Africa Investor Investment & Business Leaders Awards 2009.
- 24 October - International Day of Climate Action
2500 actions in more than 150 countries will be conducted at the International Day of Climate Action. Please have a look at www.350.org for more information and events in and around Cape Town.
- City of Cape Town launches an Energy Efficiency Forum for commercial building owners/managers, in collaboration with SA Property Owners Association, national power utility Eskom and others.

- The Cape Town Partnership launches its Sustainable Cape Town Programme focusing on sustainable development in the Cape Town Central City. As part of this, a Sustainability Desk will be set up, which will assist stakeholders in the central city in their transition to low carbon and sustainable business practices.
