
Introductory Training Workshop on Environmental and Social Risk Analysis

An Introductory Environmental and Social Risk training workshop, co-organized by UNEP FI and Ecobanking, took place on the 2 June in Quito, Ecuador, at the Hotel Hilton Colon.
The workshop aimed was to sensitize bankers, risk & credit managers and other relevant parties across the financial sector, on the importance, effective techniques and consequential benefits of incorporating environmental and social considerations into their investment and risk management decision-making.
Over course of the day participants were oriented towards practical mechanisms and tools for implementing Environmental and Social Risk Management, case-study based exercises and activities, as well as peer-to-peer experience sharing from banking practitioners, including from Banco Santander Brazil’s noted banker Christopher Wells.
A carefully targeted group of risk managers, credit officers and analysts, as well as sustainability and environmental managers attended the workshop.
