21-22 November 2006 | Berlin

The 2-day conference, jointly organised by UNEP FI and VfU, the Association for Environmental Management in Banks, Insurances and Savings Banks, will address climate change and its impact on both the sustainability-management of financial service providers as well as on their core business activities. Through presentations, panel discussions and interactive sessions leading experts in the field of climate change and experienced finance practitioners will update attendees on the risks and opportunities that climate change poses to the financial sector. Topics on the first day will include talks on the scientific basis for climate change, updates on the work of the UNEP FI Climate Change Working Group and the Carbon Disclosure Project, and presentations on the climate strategies of financial institutions. The second day will open with a controversial discussion on carbon neutrality of financial institutions. Furthermore, presentations will be given on innovative product ideas around climate change, emissions trading, socially responsible investment and financing of renewable energy. The conference will be kindly hosted by Deutsche Bank in Berlin. The agenda and registration form for the event will be available on www.vfu.de.
