We are writing to give your organisation the opportunity to sign a new Global Investor Statement to Governments on Climate Change. The statement calls on governments to:

  • Achieve the Paris Agreement’s goals;
  • Accelerate private sector investment into the low carbon transition; and
  • Commit to improve climate-related financial reporting.

You can also find background information on the statement in this Supporting Q&A.

This statement will be sent privately to the leaders of the Group of 7 nations (Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, the U.K. and the U.S.) in advance of the G7 Summit on 8-9 June 2018. It will also form the basis of future engagements with governments, with updated signatories, at the Global Climate Action Summit, the G20 Summit, and COP24.

To add your organisation’s name to the statement, please complete the short form at this link.

The deadline to sign this statement is Monday 28 May 2018.

There is no cost to sign the statement and no further actions are required of signatories. The statement will be signed by organisation names only – not CEOs (no actual signatures are needed).

This statement was drafted through a collaboration among seven organisations, under the auspices of the Investor Agenda: the Asia Investor Group on Climate Change (AIGCC), CDP, Ceres, the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC), the Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC), the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and UNEP-FI. The statement is final, and no further changes can be made.

By signing the statement, you consent to your organisation being listed as active under the policy advocacy focus area of the Investor Agenda.

This statement builds on the precedent of previous global investor statements that your organisation may have signed, including last year’s letter to G7 and G20 Governments.

Please note this statement remains a confidential document (not for distribution to the press or the public) until it is formally published – we will contact you with further information in advance of publication.

Thank you for your time and consideration. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Remco Fischer.
