He is also an External Member of the French Council of Economic Advisers, and affiliated Professor at the Paris School of Economics. He previously held senior positions at the European Central Bank (ECB), including Director General and Adviser to the President from November 2008 until December 2013. From 1995 to 1998, he worked at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC. He holds a Ph.D. (Economics) from the University of Munich and a M.Sc. from the London School of Economics.
