Deutsche Bank & Sustainability / CSR
Sustainability is an integral part of Deutsche Bank’s corporate philosophy (see “Deutsche Bank Mission Statement on Ecology and Sustainability”). In 1999, Deutsche Bank introduced a sustainable management system in accordance with ISO 14001, which is governed as a group-wide function.

Deutsche Bank Group offers a wide range of sustainable products, for example the Panda-Renditefonds, which supports the work of the World Wildlife Fund for Nature or funds that feature options to donate fund distributions or units to charity. In 2002, the DWS Invest Sustainability Leaders equity fund was launched to invest exclusively in companies listed on the DJSI World Index.

Via Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation the Microcredit Development Fund makes an important contribution to the development of stable economic structures. Microcredits are granted to founders of small businesses to acquire better equipment or to be able to operate a retail trade.

Deutsche Bank advises business customers and the public sector on questions such as sustainability management and the use of sustainably-compatible technologies.

In addition, Deutsche Bank exerts indirect influence on the environment through some of its business activities, such as its lending policy. Lending decisions are based not only on a borrower’s creditworthiness, but sustainability checks are also conducted and environmental factors are taken into consideration, together with social and ethical behaviour.

As a result of Deutsche Bank’s commitment to sustainability, its shares are listed in the leading sustainability indices, including the DJSI World, the Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Index (DJSI STOXX) and the FTSE4Good Index.
