The 3rd Symposium on the Paris Agreement and ESG in Real Estate Investments was hosted by the Institute for Building Environment and Energy Conservation (IBEC) and jointly-hosted by Japan Sustainable Building Consortium (JSBC), UNEP FI and Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). Nearly 200 experts who engage in construction, real estate and asset management industries participated in the event. The major objective of this symposium was to launch the Sustainable Real Estate Investment Framework in Japan. Following a key note speech made by Mr.Takejiro Sueyoshi with a message that de-carbonisation is relevant to Japan’s growth strategy, an introduction to Green Finance as  Global Policy Trend for Transition to Sustainable Finance was made by Eric Usher. Then, the long awaited Japan launch of the framework was made possible by Mr. Frank Hovorka, co-chair of UNEP FI Property Working Group (PWG). In the subsequent panel session, participants discussed ways to leverage the framework in Japan. Panellists were Mitsubishi Corp.-UBS Realty Inc., CSR Design Green Investment Advisory Co., Ltd, Japan Building Owners and Managers Association as well as Mr. Frank Hovorka. The moderator was Mr. Masato Ito from Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank. PRI Japan Director made a closing remark and called for stepping forward into action.
