New Publication: Japan Group Brochure

The UNEP FI Asia Pacific Task Force Japan Group brochure is now available in Japanese and English. As well as providing a summary of the Group’s activity to end of 2006, the Brochure includes information on the Japanese environmental policies relevant to the finance sector.

Principles for Responsible Investment Press Conference in Tokyo

As part of the UNEP FI Asia Pacific Task Force Japan Group activity, a press conference was held on 1 May 2006 on the UN’s Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) hosted by the Development Bank of Japan (DBJ) in Tokyo. It was opened by DBJ’s Senior Executive Director, Mr Atsushi Oi, and was attended by about 40 people from the Japanese UNEP FI signatory institutions as well as approximately 20 journalists. The PR has been translated into Japanese (http://www.unpri.org/principles/japanese.html) and the Japan Group further plans to publish the Japanese translation of the PRI brochure (http://www.unpri.org/files/pri.pdf).

Four of the Japanese UNEP FI signatories were signing up to the PRI on 2 May as Asset Managers (Sumitomo Trust & Banking Co, Sompo Japan, Daiwa Asset Management and Mitsubishi UFJ Trust & Banking). In addition, Kikkoman signed up as an Asset Owner for their corporate pension scheme.

「責任投資原則」並びに署名機関の公表に関する記者会見

去る5月1日、東京の日本政策投資銀行(UNEPFI日本グループ議長)本店内で、責任投資原則並びに署名機関の公表に関する記者会見が行われ、署名機関関係者約40名、マスコミ関係者約20名、合計約60名が出席しました。会議の冒頭、UNEPFI日本グループを代表して日本政策投資銀行大井篤理事が開会の挨拶。引き続いて、UNEPFIアジア•太平洋地域特別アドバイザーの末吉竹二郎氏よりUNEPFI並びにPRIの趣旨説明。更に、各署名機関からPRI署名に関するコメントが行われました。

なお、日本からの署名機関は、挨拶順に、住友信託銀行、損害保険ジャパン、大和証券投資信託委託、三菱UFJ信託銀行、キッコーマン年金基金の5社でした(但しキッコーマン年金基金は本日の記者会見には欠席)。記者会見の内容は国内主要紙で紹介され、関心の高さを窺わせました。

UNEP FI APTF Japan Group Launched

The UNEP FI Japanese signatories have set up the UNEP FI APTF Japan Group with the objective of raising awareness on sustainable finance. Together with the other two groups in the UNEP FI Asia Pacific Task Force, Australasia and Outreach Groups, the Japan Group aims to support and expand sustainable financial practice in Japan and the Asia Pacific.

The Japan Group kick off meeting was held in 28 September in which its mission and activities was discussed.

「UNEP FI日本グループ」が発足

UNEP FI国内署名機関各社は、９月１日、署名機関等の相互交流、情報発信等を目的に、「UNEP FIアジア・太平洋地域タスクフォース　日本グループ」を発足致しました。UNEP FIは、２００３年１０月に「２００３　UNEP FI東京会議」を国内署名機関の協力により開催しました。経済発展が著しいアジアにおいては、環境問題への対応が重要な課題となっており、東京会議を機にUNEP FIの理念をこれまでにも増して普及させることが期待されています。今回の日本グループの発足は、こうした流れに沿ったものです。

日本グループは、アジア・太平洋地域タスクフォース内の他のグループであるオーストララシア（豪州・ニュージーランド）グループ、アウトリーチ・グループ（地域内の機関同士が国境を越えて交流することを目的とするもの）と共に、日本およびアジア太平洋地域においてUNEP FI金融機関声明の精神の普及と発展を推進いたします。
