UNEP FI Statements

The UNEP FI Statements represent the backbone of the Initiative. By signing up to the Statements, financial institutions openly recognize the role of the financial services sector in making our economy and lifestyles sustainable and commit to the integration of environmental considerations into all aspects of their operations.

All financial institutions wishing to join the UNEP Finance Initiative must adhere to one of the two Statements depending on their core business:

• UNEP Statement by Financial Institutions on the Environment and Sustainable Development
• UNEP Statement of Environmental Commitment for the Insurance Industry

The UNEP FI Statements are aspirational, voluntary declarations of intent.
