Climate Change online course

Climate Change: Risks and Opportunities for the Finance Sector

The most recent course ran from 8 to 26 June 2009.

The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is pleased to announce the running of the 2009 e-Learning course "Climate Change: Risks and Opportunities for the Finance Sector." The 2009 course is an updated version of the highly successful course launched in June 2007 and re-run in June 2008.

The course run by the UNEP FI Climate Change Working Group and leveraging on the e-Learning infrastructure of The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) will offer courses on this important issue over the internet with the aim of increased quality and effectiveness in training. Through the running of the first course, UNEP FI found strong demand amongst financial institutions to learn about climate change and how it affects their industry. Today, with the climate change agenda becoming even more relevant for the financial services sector, UNEP FI is pleased to offer this third course.

How the UNEP FI / UNITAR e-Learning Works

The primary focus of our e-Learning is to provide senior and mid-level executives in financial institutions with a flexible, cost-effective and accessible training service with a view to continued skills building and networking.

Our e-Learning - or training conducted using the internet - is structured around three levels of interaction. At the first level, participants interact with content and training modules. Second, participants interact with other members of their group through discussions and exchanges. Third, participants interact with online instructors, who are available for questions, debate, online teaching and guidance. Our method of e-Learning has proven to be highly effective, while helping participants take charge of what, when, where, and how they learn.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive a certificate of completion from UNEP FI/UNITAR through surface mail.
