The objective of the Course is to promote the transition towards a low-carbon economy, through the financing and investment in energy efficiency projects, specifically in Buildings. The course also seeks to enhance financial institutions capacity to finance these kinds of projects, showing the potential opportunities of business in the area of energy efficiency in buildings, in order to increase investment flows in the financial sector of the region. The course also seeks to encourage a greener outlook in it clients through energy costs reduction, green house gas emission reduction and/or the investment in renewable energies, and thus it will enhance the FI corporate image and the FI client reputation.
Target audience: The course is directed specifically at middle and higher level FI representatives: vice-presidents, directors or department managers, preferably linked to corporative bank, investments and marketing.
A limited number of places are also available for representatives from relevant stakeholder audiences including: supervisory/regulatory bodies, banking associations, government agencies, academic institutions, NGOs and civil society organisations involved in finance and sustainable energy issues.
Please note that places for non-financial institution representatives are limited.
Course Contents: Contents and course materials just can be consulted by participants. Modules can’t be provided separately.
Duration: Three weeks.
Time commitment: Two hours/day on average, Monday to Friday.

The Energy Efficiency Financing in Buildings Online Course is a product of the INCAE Business School, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), through the Ecobanking Project, and in collaboration with the Basel Agency for Sustainable Energy (BASE), as part of the activities of its programme “Capacity Building for Banks”. The project was developed thanks to the support of the Environmental German Federal Ministry, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), in the framework of the “International Initiative on the Climate” – ICI, based on a decision of the Federal Parliament of Germany.
