The European Mortgage Federation – European Covered Bond Council (EMF-ECBC) launched in September 2016 a new initiative to develop a mortgage financing mechanism to support households in the energy efficient renovation of their properties. The EMF-ECBC Initiative represents the first time a group of major banks and mortgage lenders, as well as companies and organisations from the building and energy industries have proactively come together to discuss the private financing of energy efficiency.

UNEP FI supports the Energy Efficient Mortgage Initiative (see overview of the initative) launched last year by the European Mortgage Federation- European Covered Bond Council (EMF-ECBC) which will have its third stakeholder meeting and kick off of the Energy Efficient Mortgages Action Plan on June 9. This initiative is very innovative, led by the industry, for energy efficiency mortgage financing of residential and commercial buildings. The June 9 meeting will present an opportunity to learn about the latest in terms of best practice.

UNEP FI Banking members are welcome to join this event hosted in Rome by the Italian Banking Association. Please confirm your participation to the EMF-ECBC Secretariat (mlandersen@hypo.org) before COB Friday, 12 May 2017.
