3 September 2007 | Sao Paulo, Brazil

Following on from a similar workshop held in London in August 2007, UNEP FI in collaboration with Flora & Fauna International and Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), joint partners in the Natural Value Initiative (NVI), held a workshop in Sao Paulo to share examples of best practice management of biodiversity and ecosystem services risks within the food and beverage sector and inform the development of a benchmarking tool for the finance sector to enable a better understanding within the sector of biodiversity and ecosystem services impacts and risks. The workshop, hosted by BOVESPA, the Brazilian Stock Exchange, was well-attended by 48 participants from the finance sector, food, beverage and agro-industrial sectors, academia and the NGO community. This event, combined with additional one-to-one discussions with key stakeholders and the results of the earlier workshop in the UK, will be used to inform the NVI’s strategy going forward.
