,27 September, 2004 | Budapest, Hungary The UNEP FI Renewable Energy Finance Workshop, held in collaboration with the Sustainable Energy Finance Initiative (SEFI), attracted more than 90 participants from the international and local financial sector, NGOs, project developers and governmental agencies. The large number of participants and the vibrant discussions showed that renewable energy and energy efficiency in Central and Eastern Europe is an important and growing field of interest. The aim of the day was to discuss experiences in financing renewable energy in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe in order to spread best practice. Presentations were held by key players in the renewable energy field, including Bank Austria Creditanstalt, Fortis Bank, OTP Bank. During the day, Mark King (EBRD), the Chair of the Central and Eastern European Task Force, presented the planned activities of the task force and the results of the study, “Finance & Sustainability in Central and Eastern Europe(PDF: 423 KB). OTP Fund Management, the largest fund manager in Hungary, took the opportunity to sign the UNEP FI Statement as the first asset management company in the CEE region.
