Dr Shuaihua CHENG is Senior Programme Officer, Head of Asia Pacific and China at ICTSD, where he is responsible for strategic advice to the Chief Executive and for the issues related to Asia Pacific and China. He has been leading ICTSD China Initiative and Bridges China Dialogue in Geneva since 2006. Dr Cheng was appointed Managing Director of ICTSD China Office in 2012. Before joining ICTSD, Dr Cheng was a trade development analyst at the Shanghai Development Research Centre and Board Secretary of Shanghai WTO Affairs Consultation Centre. He was a British Chevening Scholar, an Associate Research Fellow of the Evian Group at IMD and a Salzburg Seminar Fellow. In 2007, Dr Cheng was nominated Asia 21 Young Leader by the Asia Society. Dr Cheng has written widely on issues related to trade, environment, finance, development, and role of emerging economies in global governance for both policy and academic audiences. Dr Cheng was educated at the Fudan University and the University of Oxford. He is a citizen of China.
