UNEP FI ‘s Global Roundtable to be held in Dubai for the first time

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, the United Arab Emirates, represented by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and in collaboration with the UAE’s Central Bank, is hosting the UN Environment Program Finance Initiative’s 14th Global Roundtable event for the first time in the region on 25-26 October 2016 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai. The first day of the Global Roundtable event in Dubai opened with a major announcement from Dubai’s Minister of Climate Change and the Environment and financial institutions in the UAE. The second day launched with a keynote speech from UN Environment Executive Director, Erik Solheim. Read a brief summary of the events and key messages here. 2016 GRT: A Carbon Neutral Event

Thanks to the sponsorship of Escarus, the 2016 UNEP FI Global Roundtable will be a carbon neutral event. Using their unique SıfırKarbon (Zero Carbon) methodology, they will measure the carbon emissions generated due to the event and then purchase Gold Standard Carbon Offsets to make the event carbon neutral.

SıfırKarbon Principles approaches a climate footprint of an organization in a standardized, reliable and verifiable way, and is based on robust and internationally accepted methodologies.All attendees will be required to fill out a brief emission calculation survey and the event organizers will provide information about the venue, food, paper, energy sources, and more to provide Escarus with the information that they need to conduct the carbon emission calculations.

TSKB Sustainability Consultancy, Escarus – a subsidiary of Industrial Development Bank of Turkey (TSKB) – is a consulting company offering various sustainability solutions.
