Summary of Sustainability Strategy
A/S Arbejdernes Landsbank’s overall ambition is to become one of the most sustainable banks in Denmark in 2025.
The global warming and climate changes constitute some of the biggest challenges in today’s society, and the financial sector plays a key role in the sustainable conversion to a green and sustainably relevant economy. As a bank, A/S Arbejdernes Landsbank can make an impact by integrating sustainability into their banking operations and their internal consumption and procurement. However, A/S Arbejdernes Landsbank believes they have a greater impact on society and the climate when they focus on making sure that capital is allocated towards projects with an environmental and social benefit and supports a more sustainable future development.
Therefore, A/S Arbejdernes Landsbank will integrate ESG into their core business. The will put extra focus on making their loans, credits and investments more sustainable e.g. by increasing volume of their current sustainable products and services, and also by developing new sustainable initiatives that can motivate their customers, business partners and other stakeholders to act more sustainably. Moreover, A/S Arbejdernes Landsbank will continue to reduce their internal energy consumption and demand that their suppliers also incorporate ESG into their operations.
The overall purpose of A/S Arbejdernes Landsbank’s sustainable strategy is to secure a sustainable development of the bank as well as continuously minimize the bank’s climate impact, and they will report on progress on an annual basis.
As a responsible bank operating in Denmark, A/S Arbejdernes Landsbank is taking the responsibility by being engaged in the UNEP Finance Initiative. They are committed to supporting the ‘Principles for Responsible Banking’ by firstly allocating capital to sustainable and green projects and purposes, and secondly by integrating sustainability into their internal banking operations.
