Hannover Rueck, with gross premium of more than EUR 24 billion, is the third-largest reinsurer in the world. They transact all lines of property & casualty and life & health reinsurance and are present on all continents with more than 3,000 staff. Established in 1966, the Hannover Rueck Group today has a network of more than 170 subsidiaries, branches and representative offices worldwide. The German business of the Hannover Rueck Group is transacted by their subsidiary E+S Ruck. The rating agencies most relevant to the insurance industry have awarded both Hannover Rueck and E+S Ruck very good financial strength ratings: Standard & Poor’s AA- “Very Strong” and A.M. Best A+ “Superior”.

Hannover Rueck has been a signatory to the UN Global Compact since May 2020. After already signing the “Principles for Responsible Investment” (PRI) in December 2020, they see signing the PSI as a consequential step to address the underwriting business as well. They feel that both initiatives are complementing each other and are an important signal towards their stakeholders. Both initiatives also reflect the goals set in their Sustainability strategy 2021-2023. They are looking forward to interesting dialogues and knowledge sharing with the UNEP FI/PSI network.
