Insurance & Climate Risk Americas: The insurers role in avoiding the next big source of systematic risk in the financial system

24 September 2018 | 10 on the Park, New York

Environmental Finance, together with sister publication InsuranceERM, hosted their inaugural Insurance & Climate Risk conference in London last year and this year they are bringing the event to New York.

A study recently published by the United Nation’s Sustainable Insurance Forum (SIF) on climate risk highlighted the multidimensional effect on insurers, with physical risks impacting the underwriting business and transitional risks affecting the insurers’ investment portfolio.

This one-day conference brings together the investment, risk, actuarial and underwriting teams to discuss and learn what roles they can play in response to the multidimensional effect of climate risk to their businesses as well as the opportunities it may bring.

UNEP FI’s Butch Bacani, Programme Leader of the Principles for Sustainable Insurance, will deliver a keynote presentation on climate change action and sustainable development in the context of the insurance industry, financial regulation and global policy frameworks. He will be joined by an incredible speaker line-up, including:

Dave Jones, California Department of Insurance

Mike Kreidler, State of Washington

Adam Zurofsky, Office of Governor Andrew Cuomo

Maurice Tulloch, CEO, International Insurance, Aviva
