Advanced Skills Development: UNEP FI Risk Centre

UNEP FI’s member-only Risk Centre aims to take practical learning on sustainability risk assessment and disclosures and apply it to internal practices. Aimed at mid-level risk management professionals in UNEP FI member organisations, the Centre offers a wide range of activities and resources to help members assess and find the opportunities in climate and nature risk through technical skill-building workshops, working groups that develop cutting-edge risk management tools and guidance, and sessions with leading external experts, regulators, modelers and data providers.

Access to most of these resources is included in the annual membership fee and available exclusively to UNEP FI members.

Tutor-led training: Environmental and Social Risk Analysis (ESRA)

This programme provides personalised training for banks to help them with environmental and social risk assessments for lending activities. The three-week online course is tutor-led and interactive and offers participants a range of activities, including simulating the implementation of environmental and social policies and guidelines, analysis of case studies, and exercises based on the environmental and social impacts of their clients.

This training can be also delivered through in-person workshops, available in EnglishSpanishFrench, and Chinese, and can be tailored to organisations’ needs.

Fees apply and certificates are issued upon successful completion.

Tutor-led training: Climate Change: Risk Management in the Banking Sector

This programme covers the science behind climate change, introduces transition and physical risks and opportunities, and provides an overview of climate risk reporting frameworks. The three-week online course is tutor-led and designed for executives and middle management from banks and financial regulators from developed and developing regions. Participants learn how to assess the credit risks and opportunities from physical climate change and the transition to a low-carbon economy.

This training can be also delivered through in-person workshops, available in EnglishSpanish and French, and can be tailored to organisations’ needs.
