Nature needs us to work together

Revenues for Nature (R4N) is a global project that aims to contribute to the implementation of Target 19 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), to mobilize USD 200 Billion per year for biodiversity, by mobilizing private sector finance at scale for nature restoration and conservation.

The Revenues for Nature community of practice brings together a wide range of stakeholders, including banks, insurers, investors, the private sector, governments and local communities, to come up with innovative solutions for the implementation of Target 19. It fosters partnerships at the local, national, regional and global level to connect nature finance strategies from the private sector with National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) led by governments.

The community of practice aims to foster a collaborative environment where participants across sectors and geographies can share knowledge, exchange ideas, and explore successful financing models; enabling financial priorities to be aligned with biodiversity goals to unlock new investment opportunities that drive sustainable development. Together, this community can create impactful change helping to ensure a nature-positive and sustainable future for all.

The community of practice is open to all public or private actors relevant to financing NBSAPs—including asset owners, investors, insurers, development banks, corporations and government representatives—as well as enabling partners such as NGOs and academia.

It aims to collect and mobilize relevant expertise on the challenges and opportunities presented by Target 19. By helping to align the core operations of financial institutions and corporate actors with biodiversity objectives, the community of practice contributes to bridging the financing gaps in NBSAPs, in collaboration with governments.

Participants will receive regular updates on the R4N project through a monthly newsletter and have the opportunity to join regular webinars. Recordings of previous webinars and details on how to register for upcoming webinars will be included below. Additional events may also be planned depending on demand.

Please note that there is no fee to participate in the community. The community is a joint initiative from Green Finance Institute Hive, UNDP Biodiversity Finance Initiative and UNEP Finance Initiative. Activities are independent of UNEP FI membership activities.
