In-Person peer-to-peer exchange

What is it?
The new mechanism of interaction within the UNEP FI network is to allow members (and in some cases non-members) to exchange information, experiences and knowledge regarding sustainable finance in person. The specific objectives of the in-person exchange are:
• Strengthen the network and promote interaction among members.
• Promote peer-to-peer learning and the exchange of expertise and experience.
• Enhance technical capacities through practical experience and real live case studies.
• Serve as a motivational tool to promote sustainable practices within new FIs and potential members.

How does it work?
Its essence is very simply built from the UNEP FI Statement of Commitment by Financial Institutions on Sustainable Development which states 3.5 “We will encourage other financial institutions to support this Statement. We are committed to share with them our experiences and knowledge on order to extend best practices”.
We will have two main groups, host FIs and visiting FIs. Visiting FIs will have the opportunity to exchange, hear and learn from “host members” on their sustainable finance practices. The group of visitors is deliberately kept to a small number (maximum 10 visitors) to allow for a more in-detail exchange of information.

Who can be a host?
Any UNEP FI member can be a host, as long as they are willing to share their experience on a specific topic. In the case of the first exchange we will have four Brazilian hosts, FEBRABAN, ITAU, BRADESCO and Santander Brasil.

Who can be a visitor?
Any person who is actively involved with an FI interested on sustainable finance can be a visitor, however there is a preferential fee for UNEP FI members. Visitors are responsible for organizing their travel, accommodation arrangements and meals.

Can there be more than one visitor per FI?
Yes, but each application will be evaluated in a case-by-case basis.

Can I be visitor if I have been a host?
Absolutely, no one FI has all the answers and we want to encourage the exchange of experiences.

How much does it cost?
Each participant is responsible for covering their own travel, accomodation and meals. Each exchange will have a cost, so please consult with the coordinator.

The pilot event was on October 1-2, 2018 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. To know more about this event please click here.

We are planning a new event for 2021.
