According to UNEP’s 2026 Adaptation Gap Report, developing countries will need an estimated US$305 billion per year by 2035 to adapt to climate change, yet international public adaptation finance currently stands at just US$28.2-31.7 billion annually. Against this backdrop, unlocking greater flows of finance, particularly from the private sector, has become an urgent priority.

This webinar marks the launch of UNEP FI’s new report, Lost in Translation: Unlocking Adaptation Finance Through Better Information Flows, which examines one of the most persistent barriers to adaptation investment: the disconnect between the information adaptation project developers provide and the information financial institutions need to assess risk, resilience outcomes, and investment opportunities. The report presents practical recommendations to help bridge this gap and increase the flow of capital towards climate adaptation and resilience.

The session will be particularly valuable for senior management and sustainability and risk teams at private financial institutions as well as development finance institutions, policymakers, financial regulators and adaptation practitioners seeking to better understand how adaptation opportunities can be identified, structured, communicated, and financed.

This webinar is delivered through the Climate Adaptation Innovation and Learning project. This project is financed by the Global Environment Facility and implemented by UNIDO, in partnership with Climate KIC, the Global Adaptation and Resilience Investment Working Group, and UNEP FI. We are developing a unique knowledge platform for climate adaptation–a hub to drive innovation and boost private sector engagement.
