Two major reports were launched in October 2017 by UN Environment and the 1 Gigaton Coalition.

The eighth edition of UN Environment’s Emissions Gap report, released ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn, finds that national pledges only bring a third of the reduction in emissions required by 2030 to meet climate targets, with private sector and sub-national action not increasing at a rate that would help close this worrying gap.

The 1 Gigaton Coalition is a voluntary international framework initiated and supported by the Kingdom of Norway. It is coordinated by UN Environment. The Coalition supports countries to measure and report greenhouse gas emission savings resulting from renewable energy and energy efficiency activities and initiatives.
