Climate Week NYC 2026, taking place from 20–27 September alongside the United Nations General Assembly, provides a unique opportunity for the financial sector to engage with policymakers, businesses and market participants on the evolving sustainable finance landscape. With more than 1,000 events across New York City and beyond, the week will explore the opportunities and challenges of financing and delivering a sustainable, low-carbon and inclusive economy.

UNEP FI will mobilise its extensive network of banks, insurers and investors to highlight the critical role of finance in addressing climate change, nature loss and pollution. Through high-level discussions, events and major initiatives, UNEP FI will showcase financial-sector leadership and support collaboration that advances global sustainability goals.

UNEP FI events will offer members opportunities to connect with industry leaders, engage with emerging sustainable finance strategies, and share insights and experiences that help shape resilient, sustainable and inclusive economies.

PRI Investor Day during New York Climate Week will bring together senior representatives from across the responsible investment ecosystem to explore the practical, financially relevant drivers of long-term performance. The event will share actionable insights on translating responsible investment commitments into measurable action across portfolios and the real economy, including stewardship, policy engagement, capital allocation and value creation.

 

21 Sep | 13:30–15:30 EDT | Accelerating Business Leadership on Air Pollution

This roundtable, co-hosted by the UNGC, UNEP and the Stockholm Environment Institute during Climate Week NYC, will bring together leaders from business, government, finance and civil society to advance action on air pollution. The discussion will explore how stronger corporate leadership, partnerships and collective action can deliver cleaner air while supporting public health, climate mitigation and sustainable development.

The Sustainable Investment Forum North America, hosted by Climate Action in partnership with UNEP FI during Climate Week NYC, will convene senior finance and investment leaders to accelerate capital flows towards a resilient, net-zero and nature-positive economy. The forum will offer practical insights on climate and nature risk, transition finance and investment strategies that can deliver long-term value and measurable real-economy impact.

Location: Near Bryant Park, New York

UNEP FI and Rights CoLab will host an invitation-only event on community-driven data in Indonesian nickel mining.

 

23 Sep | 14:00–14:45 EDT | MSCI Climate Week NYC 2026 Breakout C: Banks & Physical Risk: Integrating Physical Risk into Credit Decisions

This MSCI partner-event roundtable will explore how AI-powered geospatial analysis is changing the physical-risk information available to banks at the asset level. The discussion will consider the implications for underwriting, loan pricing and portfolio management.

This member-only session will explore how innovation banking and sustainable finance can help climate technologies bridge the gap between early-stage venture funding and conventional infrastructure finance. It will examine financing approaches that can support first commercial deployments and make climate technology more bankable.
