David is the Chief Financial Sector Strategy Officer in the Financial Sector Development Department of the African Development Bank. He is currently leading the design and development of the Bank’s new Financial Sector Development Strategy, in addition to supporting the Director on policy and strategy issues. He also provides inputs into other Bank strategies, including the new Ten-Year Strategy and the Private Sector Development Strategy.

David was head of the Making Finance Work for Africa (MFW4A) Partnership Secretariat at the AfDB between 2015 and July 2020. MFW4A is a multi-donor funded initiative which supports financial sector development in Africa through research, knowledge management and advocacy. He has over 20 years’ experience in the African financial sector, in areas ranging from SME finance and capital markets to public-private partnerships and long-term finance. He previously managed the Commonwealth’s Private Investment Initiative (CPII), which raised US$800 million for investment Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. David has also worked for the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Agence Française de Développement.

David is a graduate of the London School of Economics and The Management School, Imperial College, London.
