There’s no question about it, the climate emergency must be tackled urgently. With the clout to change business behavior by compelling the companies they invest in to hasten the transition to a low-carbon economy, the investment industry is just the sector to do this.

Some of the world’s influential long-term investors have joined forces to radically reduce global carbon emissions by ensuring their portfolios are carbon-neutral by 2050. Hear what these financial heavyweights are planning next and the concrete actions they will be taking to ensure a low-carbon economy is attainable.

Join us in Davos at the World Economic Forum 2020 for a media briefing which will see the announcement of an important milestone in the development of the Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance, as the sixteen members welcome two more influential and well-known investors to their mission to decarbonize the economy.

Date: 22 January

Time: 13.30 – 14.00 CET

Location: Media Village

Panel: Christiana Figueres, Convener Mission 2020 and former Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change( UNFCCC), Günther Thallinger, Member of the Board of Management, Allianz, and Chair of Steering Group, Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance, Guido Fürer, Group CIO, SwissRe, and CIO from new Alliance member.

Now representing more than US$4 trillion in assets under management, the United Nations-convened Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance is a global group of institutional investors who have committed to transition their investment portfolios to net-zero GHG emissions by 2050.

This media briefing at the WEF will give an update on what has happened since the launch of the Asset Owner Alliance in September 2019 and provide insights into how the Alliance is going to achieve its 2050 objective.

It will be an interactive discussion moderated by Georg Schmitt, Associate Director, Public Engagement, Media Relations, at the World Economic Forum, with the possibility for journalists to engage with the asset owners.
