Founded in 1972, Cesce, the Spanish Export Credit Agency (ECA), has been the sole manager, on behalf of the Spanish State, of the political, commercial and extraordinary risks associated with the internationalization of Spanish companies. The Spanish State assumes ultimate liability as guarantor of the coverage offered by Cesce and, in turn, Cesce offers a wide range of State-backed products that are constantly evolving to cater to the needs of our customers.

Cesce, in its role as the Spanish ECA, is fully aware of the challenges posed by climate change and has been continuously supporting different initiatives and actions aimed at combating it. In 2020, Cesce identified the four fundamental pillars that build its Climate Change Strategy: restrictions for fossil fuel-related activities, incentives for green projects, carbon accounting, and transparency. A set of actions around them has been implemented with the common goal of reaching climate neutrality. As a result, Cesce’s portfolio is progressively becoming greener, reflecting our commitment to energy transition. Cesce’s performance is now fully aligned with national and international climate change regulations, in particular the Clean Energy Transition Partnership launched at the COP26 signed by the Kingdom of Spain.

Climate neutrality is an ambitious objective, but one that Cesce believes possible. To coordinate the actions required to reach this collective goal, the Net Zero ECA Alliance was launched at COP28, with Cesce becoming a member since the inception of the initiative. Cesce believes this initiative is the best possible means to channel efforts in the fight against climate change in the ECA ecosystem.
