Sustainable Investment Forum Europe: Financing Innovation for a Low Carbon Future

Building on the success of its Forum in New York, Climate Action is bringing the Sustainable Investment Forum to Europe in March 2018 in partnership with UNEP FI. The European Forum will welcome 250+ high-level decision-makers from the finance community, European governments and think tanks to meet, network, share ideas and discuss concrete solutions to the current challenges of the European and global climate finance market.

Human Rights and Finance: next steps for EU Policy

ShareAction and partners organize a discussion at the European Parliament on the means to ensure a strong role for human rights in the future of European financial regulation, in the context of the upcoming European Commission's Sustainable Action Plan. UNEP FI engages is dialogue on the role of human rights due diligence in the legal duties of investors and company directors.

This is a crucial time for EU policy on ESG, and Responsible Investor is presenting a series of three webinars focused on European sustainable investment policy in the context of the High-Level Expert Group on Sustainable Finance (HLEG) and the stated objectives of EU Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis. The series will feature senior figures from the EU, leading market participants and expert analysts, including UNEP FI's Elodie Feller.

Social inclusion and human rights in finance: a view from Asia Pacific

The meeting looked at how financial institutions, in addition to applying human rights due diligence in their business, tackled social issues specific to the region. It also highlighted global trends from the finance and human rights agenda to inform local financial institutions in their approaches to human rights issues, and introduced the Corporate Human Rights Benchmark (CHRB), developed in 2017 with strong support from investors as a tool enabling businesses to better understand and act on corporate human rights performance.

UNEP FI is establishing Regional Roundtables to provide an opportunity for members and actors in the sustainable finance community to come together locally to discuss the latest trends and innovations, and share good practice. 2017 marks UNEP FI’s 25th anniversary, and in this landmark year, our first ever Regional Roundtables will be the focus of our celebrations.
