To support banks in the development and implementation of credible transition plans, the Net-Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA) invited five members to share their approaches. This short paper captures insights from First Abu Dhabi Bank, Intesa Sanpaolo, La Banque Postale, SMBC, and Swedbank.
The case studies highlight how these institutions define transition finance internally, the goals they have set, and how those goals are translated into measurable targets. The paper also explores how these strategies have been socialised across business units and integrated into day-to-day operations, offering practical examples for other banks navigating similar transitions.
By showcasing a range of geographies and business models, the report aims to provide concrete, real-world examples that can inspire and inform NZBA members as they design their own transition pathways in line with net-zero commitments.
