Sustainable finance refers to how all the actors of the financial system incorporate the Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) variables into their operation and decision making processes, in order to build sustainable economies while delivering the expected benefits to their stakeholders.
UNEP FI and Finis Terrae University join forces to develop the first holistic University Diploma in Sustainable Finance in Chile and in Latin America and the Caribbean. The programme also offers the possibility of an optional internship at Georgetown University in Washington DC (USA).
The Diploma is dictated by an active academic body in the national and international environment. Empirical evidence and real cases are explored to help students understand how financial institutions can anticipate the challenges imposed by the new environmental, social, and corporate governance requirements, creating more sustainable organizations, capable of establishing better relations with their environment, becoming more innovative and competitive. In addition, students analyse how banking, investment and insurance institutions can assess the sustainability performance of companies, identifying the risks and opportunities that such performance represents.
The programme is designed for finance professionals (banking, investment and insurance), but can also be of interest for related institutions such as supervisory bodies, associations of financial institutions, as well as all government agencies, companies, NGOs and consultancies whose activities are linked to finance and sustainability.
Objectives
Train students in the different aspects associated with Sustainable Finance, considering the friction points between the economic-financial dimension and environmental, social and corporate governance considerations for the existence of a global and sustainable capital market.
Analyze the impact of sustainability variables on the financial management of organizations in the current context and future challenges for the capital market.
Apply the existing tools in the market to incorporate the ESG variables in the different processes and analysis of business decision making, both in banking, as in the insurance and investment sectors.
