Mark Carney, the UN Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance – in partnership with the UNFCCC Climate Action Champions and the Race to Zero campaign (the world’s largest coalition of non-state actors committed to net zero) – has launched a global finance alliance for net-zero, which:
- The industry-led, UN-convened Net-Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA)
- UN-convened Net-Zero asset owner alliance
- UN-convened Net-Zero Insurance Alliance (NZIA)
In 2021, UNEP FI Training Department along with its Partners are delivering a series of Webinars on “UNEP FI Financial Alliances in the Race to Net Zero” that seek to analyze the characteristics of each alliance in the race, their commitments to address climate change and their main initiatives to achieve these commitments.
The activity is aimed at the various stakeholders of the financial market, including executives of financial entities (risk areas, commercial, product development, capital markets, etc.), institutional investors, insurance companies and representatives of government agencies, regulators and supervisors of the financial market and entrepreneurs interested in exploring this type of financial instruments.
