Peer learning & further content development

User experience is a key part of the ongoing development of UNEP FI’s impact analysis and management resources. Working Groups and Communities of Practice comprising leading experts with diverse backgrounds are set up on a needs basis to support the development and iteration process of the different resources as well as to facilitate peer learning.

Below are the current opportunities to engage.

  • Community of Practice on ESRS Impact Materiality Assessment: The ESRS Community of Practice supports UNEP FI member banks in the practical implementation of the ESRS impact materiality assessment. It provides a space to exchange practices and challenges, discuss regulatory developments, and refine the UNEP FI–ESRS Interoperability Package.
  • Review Group on Bank Contribution: UNEP FI aims to establisha common approach for banks to define, measure, and communicate their contribution to the SDGs or global societal goals, bridging gaps between the global framework and existing sustainability standards. Deliverables include a narrative paper for the 2026 FFD Forum and a searchable repository of bank-specific indicators, helping create consistency, efficiency, and influence future policy. This initiative addresses fragmented practices and prepares the sector for the post-2030 sustainability agenda.
  • Review Group on Sector Impact Materiality: UNEP FI is upgrading its Sectors Mapping into a Sector Impact Materiality Matrix to improve clarity, interoperability, and sector–impact guidance. The updated tool will support materiality assessments, due diligence, portfolio screening, and impact target-setting. It is being developed with input from peer organizations, practitioners, and topical experts to ensure it is practical, consistent, and widely usable.
