The Sector Impact Matrix is the new iteration of UNEP FI’s flagship Sectors Mapping. Key Features:

  • Sustainability topics revised to increase interoperability and take on board IMP learnings (check out the 2026 Impact Radar)
  • Sector list updated from ISIC Rev. 4 to ISIC Rev. 5
  • Sector impact associations more fully explained and referenced
  • Inclusion of value chain considerations for each sector-impact association
  • Inclusion of information related to risks and opportunities
  • Powerful new interactive search functionalities introduced
  • User Guide made available, including detailed information on methodology

As a global resource providing a common understanding of sector impacts, the Matrix speaks to a wide range of practitioners and has a track record of supporting organizations’ strategic and operational decision-making processes such as materiality assessments, client screening & due diligence, client engagement & issuance of sustainability-focused products and services, determination of impact investing objectives and portfolio selection.
